STRICTLY SEATTLE 2009
Strictly Seattle, Velocity's three-week summer dance intensive, will not be held this July 2009. We know Strictly Seattle is as much of a highlight for many of you as it is for us. This was an extremely difficult decision for us to make, but one that we believe is essential to prioritizing a strong future for Velocity.
In September 2009, Velocity will open the doors to its new home in the former Capitol Hill Arts Center building. There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to happen for us to make this move successfully. Unfortunately, much of it will be during of the same summer months when we would present Strictly Seattle. As our largest program of the year, Strictly Seattle requires incredible focus and resources under the best of circumstances. It became clear to us in evaluating our plan for 2009 that we could not be successful in executing both a move into our new space and Strictly Seattle 2009.
Despite this temporary loss, we will still be dancing at Velocity this summer! We will be holding on-going classes, and our hope is that there might be some special workshop opportunities with your favorite teachers as well. We hope you understand the difficulty of our decision and are already planning on signing up for Strictly Seattle 2010 (July 5-24, 2010). We'll be in our new home, and we're determined to make Strictly Seattle 2010 our best yet! If you have questions please contact kara@velocitydancecenter.org.
